Life at the Shed

Life at the Shed

Outdoors, my little majmar provides warmth on chilly mornings--and hot water for tea.  Still havent tried cooking anything serious on it!

Shooting videos by bouncing photo lights off that white ceiling...hard at work on a new class for Strathmore Papers, and learning to use my video-editing software.

Herbs growing where theyre safe from the indoor cats...the morning light comes in the French doors...

The kitchen corner still provides hot tea and a working surface...

Gorgeous crystal lights up the west windowsill

MORE Life at the Shed

MORE Life at the Shed

A gorgeous, mosaic-like bug under the edge of an old green planter...

Busy nuthatches with their metallic "beep" sounds...

Wild honeysuckle may be a wicked invasive, but the birds adore it...which, of course, is WHY its so successful...

I love sunny days when I can sit on the deck and journal and sketch...

The black one is a Stilman& Birn journal thats a delight to write in, the others one of my hand-bound artists journals

Soaking up the D-vitamins!

And then to work, doing videos by the big window.  On sunny days, the light is sufficient, on cloudier ones I used the photo-floods...and Joseph is building me a bigger table to do demos on!  Hooray...

Clipix Organize Your Life

Clipix Organize Your Life

Have you ever heard of clipix?   Its a great new site that helps you can organize your life online!  Once you sign up (which is super easy), you just drag the "clip" button to your bookmarks bar - then, anytime you see something you like online, you "clip" it.  Everything that you "clip" gets stored on your personal clipboards.  You can view them anytime you want by going back to the clipix site.  You can clip anything - home improvement ideas, books to read, vacation plans - the possibilities are endless!

And, what I love, is that you can control the privacy settings on your clipboards - so if you want to keep your daughters birthday plans a surprise, you can.  You can make your boards private.

You can also clip to Synchboards - where your friends or family can contribute what they find in real time.  You can even group multiple boards by category.  It is really a great way to get organized.

They even have an iPhone app!

I have already started filling up my first clipboard -

Of course I clipped a few DIY ideas!

Oh and heres a short video in case you want to learn more about clipix -

What would you clip?  Leave a comment and let me know!!

Blog Swap Welcome Life on Mars!

Blog Swap Welcome Life on Mars!

Im really excited to have my first ever guest blogger today!  Welcome Maury from Life on Mars!  And if youre looking for me - Ill be over at Maurys site for the day!

Hi! I’m Maury from Life on Mars. My husband and I recently purchased a new-to-us house in South Carolina and we’ve been updating it room by room.

So far, we’ve tackled the Family Room, the Kitchen (but there’s much more to come on that), the Dining Room, the Sunroom (completed the whole room for just $400!) and the Powder Room. Whew… that makes me tired just thinking about it.

My favorite room so far has been the Powder Room. I’m on a serious stenciling kick these days. What’s not to love? It’s like wallpaper, but way easier to put up or change. Plus, there are so many different patterns and interesting ways to do it. This ain’t your Momma’s border stencils.

The Powder Room was such a dull space before:

Yep that’s a full on shot of our toilet. Nice, right? I was trying to get the “Before” of the walls and floor, but you’d think I’d have shut the lid.

Now, with a Damask stencil in Sterling Silver paint, the room is like a little jewelry box:

It’s probably my favorite project that I’ve done so far.

So, I decided to keep with a good thing and stenciled an accent wall in our bedroom last week:

I used a pearl white this time. It’s very subtle and the light catches it just right.

I’m keeping the completed project hidden until the final reveal of our master. I’m hoping to do our Master Bedroom reveal in the next week, so please be sure to come by Life on Mars and check it out! It’s probably going to replace my Powder Room as my favorite!

Thanks to Kristen for letting me swap blogs with her for the day! This is one of those blogs that I just can’t miss and I’m thrilled to be a part of it!
